Native Plant Propagation Tour at the Dallas Zoo – March 2025

Posted on | Uncategorized

A Wild Thank You for an Inspiring Day at the Native Plant Propagation Center!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you the amazing team at the Native Plant Propagation Center, and the Dallas Zoo for graciously hosting us for a fantastic behind-the-scenes tour!

It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the impactful habitat restoration and advocacy work being led by the Texas Conservation Alliance (TCA), as well as the Dallas Zoo’s conservation initiatives and commitment to sustainability. From innovative propagation techniques to habitat restoration initiatives, we walked away inspired and energized to support native plant biodiversity in our own communities.

We’re also incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us—your curiosity, questions, and passion made the day even more meaningful.

Looking for ways to support their efforts? Here’s how you can get involved:

🌱 Share Spare Seeds
If you have extra seeds from your personal collection, the Native Plant Propagation Center would be happy to accept them! Please mail them to their office, and if possible, include the species’ scientific and common names along with the harvest location. Feel free to spread the word to fellow plant lovers as well!

🌿 Volunteer with the Native Plant Propagation Center at the Zoo
If you live nearby, the Dallas Zoo is looking for greenhouse volunteers! Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two days per month for a minimum of six months. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact on native plant conservation.

📣 Spread the Word & Join Future Events
The Texas Conservation Alliance (TCA) partners with organizations across Texas to restore habitats through invasive species removal, native plantings, and clean-ups. If you’re interested in teaming up or joining future events, check out their upcoming events and get involved here.

Thank you again for your support—and We hope to see you at our next Wild Ones event soon!
