How to Plant a Native Tree - featuring the "Chinquapin Oak"
Public Welcome Family Friendly Free Event Chapter Meeting Garden Installation/Maintenance Lots of Physical Activity
Wild Ones DFW invites you to a tree planting ceremony on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 12pm - 2pm CST at Westchester Park, 3901 Churchill Dr, Flower Mound Texas 75028.
Help celebrate the Wild Ones DFW seedling chapter’s first year in Texas. Join us in this joyous occasion as we plant our new sprout, Quercus muehlenbergii, who we affectionately call, “Chinquapin Oak.”
Bring your friends and family along with a picnic lunch, non-alcoholic drinks,
chairs, and blankets to Westchester Park, 3901 Churchill Dr in Flower Mound.
The event starts with a bring-your-own family-friendly picnic at 12 p.m., followed by a tree planting ceremony at 1 p.m. to honor the Wild Ones DFW first year in the Cross Timbers ecosystem.
The tree planting will symbolize the beginning of the Wild Ones DFW, a seedling chapter, and its growth into a fully active chapter of the Wild Ones, Native Plants, Natural Landscapes, a non-profit organization in the coming year.
Resources provided will show the proper methods to select, plant, and maintain a native Texas tree. Public welcome. Free Admission.
Hosted by Wild Ones DFW, a “seedling” chapter of Wild Ones.
